Main takeaway from the “Hard Knocks” premiere: Dan Quinn’s swear jar better be ginormous.

Also, good postgame speech.

The new edition of “Hard Knocks” made its return on Tuesday night, featuring the NFC East: the Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, Washington Commanders and New York Giants would all be equally featured.

Of course, “Hard Knocks: In Season with the NFC East” on HBO Max began with the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles. While Philadelphia currently sits atop the NFC East, the Dallas Cowboys are closing in. Making matters worse was Dallas’ incredible comeback win over the Eagles, which occurred around the time filming for “Hard Knocks” began.

Philadelphia quarterback Jalen Hurts has come under scrutiny for his play this season. In episode 1, we saw Hurts come down hard on himself after multiple mistakes in last week’s loss to the Bears.

Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer was the focus in episode 1, in addition to Dallas’ impressive back-to-back wins over the Eagles and Chiefs. Schottenheimer described his long journey to his first head coaching opportunity. His players, including quarterback Dak Prescott, are big supporters.

The Giants recently fired their head coach, followed by their defensive coordinator. Things are ugly in New York. Yet “Hard Knocks” focused on the positive, including rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart and veteran Jameis Winston. We again saw why Winston is the ultimate teammate.

Finally, we have the Commanders. You wouldn’t know this was a 3-9 team when you saw how everyone, including coach Dan Quinn, reacted when safety Jeremy Reaves congratulated QB coach Tavita Pritchard on landing the head coaching job at his alma mater, Stanford. When Quinn talks about brotherhood and culture, some fans roll their eyes. It was evident in this sequence.

Episode 1 also featured a little bit of Jayden Daniels. Before Sunday’s game, Daniels spoke with legendary coach Tony Dungy, who offered encouraging words to the 2024 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Here are some highlights and reactions episode 1 of the latest version of “Hard Knocks.”

It’s wild to watch all this Jaxson-Jameis behind the scenes footage on Hard Knocks and meanwhile the other QB in the group, just hanging out in the background, is 10x Pro Bowler, former Super Bowl MVP Russell Wilson

Not sure we learned a ton about the Cowboys in the first episode of the in-season Hard Knocks about the NFC East, but in an episode focused on Dak & Schotty, the vibes sure seem better! @ChatSports pic.twitter.com/BXhEVZbMTq
