The Jacksonville Jaguars were at +300 betting odds, according to ESPN, to win the AFC South division coming into the 2025 NFL season. Trevor Lawrence had a new star receiver and possible franchise cornerstone in Heisman winner Travis Hunter. The Jaguars were set to bounce back from a 4-13 record last season to fight for the division and clinch a playoff spot. Currently, they are in competition for the AFC South with the Colts and Texans, but have taken an unusual path to be in contention.

Lawrence has stuttered through the 2025 season. He’s beaten heavyweight squads like the Chiefs with his legs when rushing for the go-ahead touchdown. He’s also stumbled when he regressed with a 1 TD, 1 INT, and under 200 yards passing stat line in a Week 10 loss to Houston. Jacksonville has been winning, both because of and despite the roller coaster that is Trevor Lawrence. They can only hope that the quarterback who won a national championship in college appears for this final set of games in December.

Stiff Competition In The South

Jacksonville has had a tough division to break through and rise to the top for now. The Indianapolis Colts were 8-2 to start the season, but floundered to drop the division lead. Houston,on the other hand, surged their way back into the division winner conversation after a rough 0-3 start to the year.

Lawrence and the Jaguars need to not drop their crucial matchups against their division rivals to secure the AFC South crown once again.

End Of My Jaguars Rant

The Jaguars are in a prime position to build their lead in the division. They have three games facing the Colts and Texans, which could be the difference maker in who wins the South and clinches a top 4 seed in the AFC playoffs.

After a season to forget last year, the Jaguars are on the hunt for another AFC South title.
