The Denver Broncos continue to defy expectations, but some of the faces in the media continue to doubt them this season.
“We teased this as the Broncos‘ escape, (but) Sean Payton said after the game, ‘That wasn’t an escape, it was a win,'” said Mike Florio to begin talking about Sunday’s primetime win. “(Payton) said, ‘Hey, this is like the 2024 Chiefs.’ You know, they find a way. They play with their food and they emerge with a win, and here they are at 10-2. They’re probably going to be No. 1 in the power rankings, because the Rams lost, and they were No. 2.”
Simms fired back. “But do you really believe they’re better than the Rams?” asked Simms, a former NFL quarterback. Simms did acknowledge Denver’s success, but also raised significant questions about the sustainability of the Broncos‘ winning ways. “They’re a lot like the Chiefs that way (winning close games), and that they find ways to win football games. But yet, I don’t sit here, maybe other than one win the whole year and go, ‘Huh, that was an impressive one,’ like they really look good on all phases of the game and played clean football.”
Like it or not, the Broncos will be subject to the scrutiny they are because they’re winning. When you’re winning football games, everyone is a critic, especially the media. There is only one fact that really matters: wins and losses, and the Broncos have stacked up the wins. If the season ended today, Denver would host a home playoff game against the Buffalo Bills.

Up next, Denver will face the 2-10 Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.
