FRISCO — Cowboys rush end Jadeveon Clowney didn’t practice on Tuesday in preparation for Thursday’s game at the Detroit Lions.

Clowney is dealing with a hamstring injury and has undergone rehab work during the early portions of practice where the media is present.

“Yeah, we’ll move him around and see where he’s at,” coach Brian Schottenheimer said. “He’s doing everything in his power but I think he’ll probably be with (team director of rehabilitation) Britt (Brown) again today and hopefully we’ll get a chance to warm him up in pregame and see how he does.”

Clowney has been a productive player in his brief time with the Cowboys.

In nine games, Clowney is second on the team with four sacks and fifth with 23 pressures.

“Veterans usually have the ability that they don’t necessarily need to practice,” Schottenheimer said of the 12-year veteran. “We’ll see how today works. We’re going to give him every opportunity to play in the game. He’s playing at a great, great level. If not, we’ll adjust. He’s earned the right to take this as long as we can to game time. I know he wants to play had a great conversation with him.”

Schottenheimer said starting left tackle Tyler Guyton is “making progress” from his sprained ankle injury.

Guyton, like Clowney, didn’t practice on Tuesday.

Cornerback Trevon Diggs (knee) was limited in practice and it’s unknown if the Cowboys will activate him from injured reserve. Diggs is currently in the 21-day return to play practice window.

NFL teams can return eight players from injured reserve in a given season. The Cowboys have returned six players from that list.
