As much as the national media tries to pit them against each other, the Dallas Cowboys have two aliens at wide receiver. CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens have been the best WR duo in football this season, and nobody else can hold a candle to them.

Lamb and Pickens have produced regardless of who is on the opposing sideline. They feasted against the Eagles‘ buttoned-up secondary two weeks ago and combined for 200 yards on 13 catches to go with a touchdown and a two-point conversion just four days later against the Chiefs.

The Lions are up next, and they are fresh off allowing Jordan Love to match a career-high with four touchdown passes on Thanksgiving. The Packers don’t have close to the firepower of the Cowboys, and Detroit has just ruled out arguably its best cornerback.

Cowboys won’t face CB Terrion Arnold against the Lions in Week 14

The Lions placed cornerback Terrion Arnold on injured reserve on Monday with a shoulder injury before announcing that he will undergo season-ending surgery.

It’s a brutal break for the 2024 first-round pick, who was injured in Detroit’s Thanksgiving loss to the Packers, but it’s objectively fantastic news for the Cowboys. While Arnold has had an up-and-down second season, his absence means Lamb and Pickens will face D.J. Reed, Amik Robertson, and Rock Ya-Sin.

Reed is a quality player and the Lions’ No. 1 corner, but he’ll have his hands full trying to hold Lamb and Pickens in check. His 67.1 coverage grade ranks 38th out of 110 cornerbacks, per Pro Football Focus, and he’s susceptible to the big play, allowing 13.2 yards per catch. Not only that, but at 5’9″, he is giving up a lot of size to Lamb and Pickens.

The Cowboys don’t have any reason to shy away from Reed, but look for them to throw Robertson and Ya-Sin’s direction early and often on Thursday night.

Robertson is allowing a 108.2 passer rating, 13.1 yards per reception, and he ranks 87th at the position with a 52.7 coverage grade. He has started eight games this season and has played both outside and in the slot. He is only 5’8″, meaning he is giving up six and seven inches, respectively, to Lamb and Pickens.

Ya-Sin, meanwhile, is on his fourth team in as many seasons. He’s played reasonably well this season, but he is a 29-year-old CB who’s battled numerous injuries throughout his career. At 6-foot, Ya-Sin is the tallest of the Lions’ starting corners, assuming he slots into the lineup for Arnold.

Containing Lions stud edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson will be key, but the Cowboys have shown an ability this season not to let opposing star defensive linemen take over a game. That list includes Micah Parsons, Maxx Crosby, Chris Jones, and Jalen Carter.

As long as Dak Prescott has time to throw, Lamb and Pickens should feast yet again against a banged-up Lions secondary.
