HOUSTON – The Texans had already replaced veteran offensive guard Laken Tomlinson in the starting lineup.
Now, the Texans have waived the former Pro Bowl selection.
Tomlinson, 33, played in 10 games for the Texans, starting seven of them.
The Texans are starting Tytus Howard at left guard after plugging in Trent Brown at right tackle with Ed Ingram at right guard.
In the offseason, Tomlinson signed a one-year deal with a maximum value of $5 million and a base value of $4.25 million, per a league source.
Tomlinson has $2.5 million in total guarantees, a $1 million signing bonus, a salary of $2.5 million with $1.5 million fully guaranteed, $44,118 per game active in roster bonuses, plus a $750,000 Pro Bowl, playoffs incentive.
Tomlinson is a former Pro Bowl selection with the San Francisco 49ers who tarted every game for the previous seven seasons with 173 career games and 162 starts.
Tomlinson is a former Detroit Lions first-round draft pick from Duke.
He was sent to the 49ers for a fifth-round draft pick before signing signing a three-year, $18 million extension with the 49ers.
He did a three-year, $36 million deal for the New York Jets.
The Jets before signing with Seattle on a one-year, $1.2 million deal.
He started every game last season for the Seahawks.
