Utah signed the highest-rated recruit in program history on Wednesday morning.

Five-star offensive tackle Kelvin Obot put pen to paper, making his pledge to the Utes official during college football’s early signing period, which closes Friday.

Obot hails from Fruitland High School in Fruitland, Idaho. He is one of Utah’s most important signings in this class, alongside four-star offensive tackle Mataalii Benjamin from Lehi, who also made his signing with the program official.

With Obot’s commitment locked down, the Utes officially earned their first five-star commitment in program history. Utah’s recruiting class currently ranks 37th in the nation and seventh in the Big 12, according to 247Sports.

As it stands, the Utes have signed the majority of their 2026 recruiting class, officially locking down 14 of their 18 commits on the first day of the early signing period.

Utah flips a defensive end from Michigan State, holds onto a key running back

(Francisco Kjolseth | The Salt Lake Tribune) Utah defensive coordinator Morgan Scalley as Utah hosts Cal Poly, NCAA football in Salt Lake City on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2025.

The Utes and defensive coordinator Morgan Scalley earned a key commitment on their front seven on Wednesday.

Three-star defensive end Fameitau Siale from Seattle, Washington, was originally committed to Michigan State before he announced that he was flipping to the Utes.

Siale chose the Utes offer over Washington, Cal and Arizona State. He has yet to sign his national letter of intent with the program, however.

But Utah did lock down a key signature from three-star running back LaMarcus Bell, who was receiving late interest from the Oregon Ducks. Bell, who goes to Lake Oswego High School in Oregon, is rated as the No. 2 running back recruit in his home state according to 247Sports’ Composite Rankings.

Utah still awaits signatures from Pula twins

(Trent Nelson | The Salt Lake Tribune) Lone Peak’s Kennan and Jaron Pula as Lone Peak hosts Lehi, high school football in Highland on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2025.

After flipping four-star twins Jaron and Kennan Pula from UCLA earlier this year, it appears that Utah is preparing for a late recruiting battle with in-state rival BYU and Colorado.

The Pula twins have yet to make their signatures official with the program on the first day of the early period.

Both Jaron and Kennan have been highly sought after by both programs since they announced they were backing off from their UCLA pledge earlier this year.

Jaron currently ranks as the eighth-best player in Utah, while his brother Kennan is two spots below him at No. 10. Both currently attend Lone Peak High School in American Fork.

The Tribune will update this developing story.
