ASHBURN, Va. (7News) — If you have ever played a sport, you are well aware that losing stinks.
It’s hard to put in the effort day in and day out, and the results on the field end up a disappointment.
The Washington Commanders are going through that right now. Seven straight losses. 3-9 on the season. No question, the season has not gone the way anybody expected.
To the players’ credit, the locker room is as strong as ever. The positivity and optimism are still at a high level.
“Normally, when you have bad times like this, you have a lot of negativity,” Commanders right guard Sam Cosmi told 7News Sports Director Scott Abraham. “I just don’t feel that in the building, which is a great thing.”
The team is finally starting to get healthy again. Terry McLaurin is back; his impact was felt last week against the Broncos. Quarterback Jayden Daniels has been practicing the last two weeks. He still hasn’t been medically cleared for contact, but he’s getting close to returning to the field.
Then there’s wide receiver Noah Brown, who could return on Sunday against the Vikings. Brown is optimistic that he will play in Minnesota.
“The people in this building are always supporting me. My support system at home. At my core, I’m a man of faith,” Brown said about working through the mental struggles of being out. “Sometimes in situations like this, you want to ask God why? Why is this happening to me? I went through that period. Why and what are you trying to teach me? That’s what I’ve been focusing on.”
Sunday’s game in Minnesota will kick off at 1:00 pm.
