Last year, the Pittsburgh Steelers managed to go 10-7 with Russell Wilson and Justin Fields under center.
This year, both are backup quarterbacks elsewhere with a combined record of 2-10.
Wilson started off well with the Steelers last season but lost their trust after losing his final five starts of the year, including his lone playoff start. With Wilson trending in the wrong direction and heading into his age-37 season, Pittsburgh decided to move on.
Unfortunately, the Steelers opted to replace him with an even older quarterback, bringing in Aaron Rodgers on a one-year deal.
They were apparently hoping that Rodgers, who is five years older than Wilson, would be an improvement. That hasn’t been the case, however, as Rodgers has essentially matched Wilson’s production from last year.

Like Wilson last year, Rodgers is also fading down the stretch. He’s coming off a poor November and is dealing with multiple injuries that have significantly hampered his production over the last few weeks.
Rodgers provided a brief spark early in the season, but that has quickly faded. Reality has set in, and Pittsburgh’s struggles have continued.

The Steelers will likely be on the hunt for a new quarterback this offseason, regardless of how the rest of the season plays out. Hopefully they go after someone younger with more upside, because older veterans aren’t capable of carrying this flawed roster for long.
