FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – Bishop Luers football player Jonas Muya signed to play at the University of West Virginia during a ceremony today.
The Congo native traveled to the United States, where he first played basketball in the region before coming to Fort Wayne to play for Luers. His guardian dad, Roosevelt Barns, encouraged Jonas to pick up football this past year.
After one season with the Knights, Jonas will continue his career as a Mountaineer. He said he’s grateful for all the support he’s received at Bishop Luers from his team and family.
“They’re welcoming too, they count me as a teammate, as a family… everyone helped me and pushed me to be the best I can be you know,” Muya said.
Muya will finish his senior year at Luers before he heads to West Virginia to play for the 2026 Mountaineers as an offensive tackle.
