The New England Patriots are flying high this year, and one player in particular deserves praise for their upward trajectory. Second-year quarterback Drake Maye has been phenomenal so far this season.
In 13 games this season, Maye has completed 276 of 386 pass attempts for a league-leading completion rate of 71.5%. Coming out of Week 13, he also is tops among all qualifying NFL QBs in passing yards (3,412), passer rating (111.9) and completion percentage above expectation (9.6), while ranking second in EPA per play (0.272) as well as yards (8.8) and net yards (7.59) per attempt.
Most importantly, he has lead a team that won just four games during his rookie season to an 11-2 record and the top playoff seed in the AFC. Long story short, he has been outstanding.
Has he been worthy of the “MVP!” chants that have been coming his way regularly this year, though? That is precisely the question we are asking in this week’s SB Nation Reacts survey.
