It looks like Atlanta Falcons linebacker Malik Verdon will have to wait until next season to make his NFL debut. Even though Verdon returned to practice a few weeks ago, the team chose not to activate him once his 21-day practice came to an end on Wednesday, according to Falcons beat reporter Terrin Waack.
Verdon, an undrafted free agent out of Iowa State who signed with Atlanta following the 2025 NFL draft, will now remain on the non-football injury list for the rest of the year. Prior to the draft, Verdon was projected as a Day-3 prospect.

Here’s what NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein wrote about the defensive back-turned-linebacker in his 2025 scouting report:
Verdon has an enticing blend of height, weight and length. He’s a smooth athlete with a big tackle radius and decent ball skills. Verdon will struggle in man coverage due to a lack of route anticipation and make-up speed, but he could improve quickly from zone if he decides to trust his eyes and cut his trigger loose. — Lance Zierlein, NFL.com
