Caleb Williams has improved this season from 2024, but he still has left much to be desired as a passer. The Chicago Bears still have won football games, even with Caleb Williams’ struggles. Everybody involved with this team and watching this team wants to see Caleb Williams consistently be the reason the Bears win; that could be coming soon.

Mike Pendleton with Bears Wire noted Caleb Williams’ promise for the Bears’ passing attack to be better in a recent article:

Best is yet to come

“The Chicago Bears have won five straight games, including their most recent 24-15 win over the Philadelphia Eagles, and players believe the best is yet to come,” Pendleton wrote.

Stacking wins

Pendleton continued:

“This is the second winning streak of the season for Chicago, their previous high being four games after starting 0-2, and the locker room sounds like a team that has bought in with new head coach Ben Johnson. Even after their signature win over the Eagles on Black Friday, there are clear signs of room for improvement, especially in the passing game. Following their Week 13 win, quarterback Caleb Williams vowed that he, and the team, will be showing their best version of football very soon.”

Needing to maximize this year

“I come in every single week and we work our tail off as a group, and myself included, I want to maximize every single thing,” Williams said. “That’s why I get frustrated, I have such a talented group, the whole team really, but on offense, we have such a talented and special group. We can do something special for Chicago. The frustration comes in because you want to maximize, you don’t want to waste time, you don’t want to waste a year. We haven’t hit our pinnacle yet, and we’re still winning these games. You want to have these moments, hit on all cylinders, that’s coming and we’re going to show our best ball here soon.”

Dominated the champs on the road

The Bears are sitting at 9-3 and coming off a game where they dominated the former Super Bowl champs, the Philadelphia Eagles. This offense has yet to play its best game. The Bears started the season with great concern about their run game. Now that run game is one of the best in the NFL.

Supplement the running game and become complete

The Bears can make that same change with their passing attack. Caleb Williams has shown flashes of being a star in the pocket, yet he has not been as consistent as his counterpart, Drake Maye. With Ben Johnson and Caleb Williams on the same page, however, it is only a matter of time before this passing attack becomes just as lethal as the Bears’ run game. If that happens, the Bears will go from fraud watch to a juggernaut in the NFL.

Moment of truth vs Packers

There is no better time for Caleb Williams and the Bears’ passing attack to come alive than against their biggest rival, the Green Bay Packers, this Sunday. Caleb Williams and Ben Johnson both know how important this game is, and to beat this really good Packers defense, it will take much more than just the run game being effective. Which Caleb Williams shows up on Sunday? It could define the Bears’ season.
