The Week 14 divisional matchup between the Indianapolis Colts and the Jacksonville Jaguars will be quite a big one.

Both teams will enter the game at 8-4 and tied for the AFC South lead — although the Jaguars hold the current tie-breaker.

So before Sunday’s game arrives, let’s highlight three storylines to watch for as the next several days unfold.

A lot is up for grabs in the AFC South race

As we just mentioned, this is a big game with the Colts and Jaguars tied at 8-4 and sitting at the top of the AFC South race. The winner, however, will have a distinct advantage going into the final month of the season.

For one, whoever wins will be in sole possession of first place in the AFC South. That team will also hold the head-to-head tie-breaker and have the better overall division record as well.

While these two teams will meet once more after Week 14, with just four games left in the season after Sunday, for whichever team is playing catch-up, there will not be a lot of time to make up ground.

Can the Colts win in Jacksonville?

Road games against the Jaguars have not been kind to the Indianapolis Colts. In fact, the Colts have lost 10 consecutive games to the Jaguars away from Indianapolis.

Of course, what happened in past seasons has zero bearing on what takes place in 2025. But in a borderline must-win game for the Colts, who have lost two in a row and three of their last four, playing in Jacksonville this week is just another wrinkle in an already pivotal matchup.

Will Jonathan Taylor and the run game get going?

In the Colts’ previous two games, Taylor has totaled 143 rushing yards, averaging just 3.8 yards per attempt. He also has no rushing touchdowns. Kansas City and Houston made it a priority to contain Taylor by defending the Colts’ offense with heavier boxes.

Finding a way to get Taylor going will take some of the burden off Daniel Jones and the passing game, with the run game keeping the Colts ahead of the sticks and out of predictable passing situations. This can then create favorable matchups for Jones to exploit through the air.

With that said, to help get more preferred looks in the run game, the passing game has to help open up opportunities by forcing the defense to spread out.
