The 2025 NFL regular season might still be going on but it’s never too early to think about the offseason and how things could unfold. For Kansas City Chiefs fans, they’re hoping Brett Veach gets to work in improving this roster so they can flip the script and go from disappointment to dynastic next year.

Unfortunately, Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports didn’t link the Chiefs to any of the big-name free agents expected to hit the market in the spring. To make matters worse, he linked some of those names to AFC West rivals, which would not be fun for the Chiefs.

The major one Benjamin broke down was where Trey Hendrickson might end up and it’s not good news for the Chiefs. Benjamin listed five ‘logical suitors’ for Hendrickson’s services but his final prediction was that the Bengals pass-rusher would ultimately join the Los Angeles Chargers. Considering how much Hendrickson has teed off against not just the Chiefs o-line during his matchups with them but all o-lines, this would be bad news for K.C.

Chiefs fans uneasy after projection sends Trey Hendrickson to Chargers

That was the only time Benjamin predicted one of these players would end up with a direct rival of the Chiefs but he mentioned the Chargers and Raiders as ‘logical suitors’ for George Pickens (Chargers), Tyler Lindenbaum (Raiders), and comically, Aaron Rodgers (Raiders).

Out of all of those, Pickens to the Chargers would be a nightmare considering the damage he did against Kansas City’s secondary on Thanksgiving. Lindenbaum going to the Raiders would also be bad news because it’d give them a talented option to slot in on their offensive line. Rodgers to the Raiders, however, would be comedy gold for Chiefs fans. Benjamin did, however, predict that Rodgers would retire so we might not get to see him suit up in the AFC West.

It’s a little disheartening not to see the Chiefs mentioned here but the good news is that it’s all speculative so none of this is confirmed, at least not yet. Hendrickson hopefully leaves the conference altogether and the Chiefs do hopefully throw their hat in the ring for some key free agents.
