The Carolina Panthers have brought back a defender.

As announced on Thursday, the team has signed cornerback Kalen King to their practice squad. The 22-year-old was waived from the active roster this past Tuesday to open up a spot for safety Tre’von Moehrig, who had served a one-game suspension in Week 13.

A Detroit, Mich. native, King played his three seasons of collegiate ball at Penn State University. He was named a third-team All-Big Ten member in 2022 and a second-team All-Big Ten member in 2023.

King would then be selected in the seventh round of the 2024 NFL draft by the Green Bay Packers. He spent the majority of his rookie campaign as a member of Green Bay’s practice squad.

Carolina signed King to their practice squad in late August. He made his regular-season debut in this past Sunday’s 31-28 win over the Los Angeles Rams, where he recorded seven snaps on special teams.
