Excellence on the Field
Corbett came to the Panthers as a prize free agent guard in 2022, fresh off a Super Bowl run with the Rams. But as situations have changed for the Panthers, he’s been willing to move positions, starting at all three interior spots on what has become one of the league’s top offensive lines. He’s done all of this while persevering through injuries including a torn ACL, two subsequent MCL injuries to the same left knee, and a torn biceps tendon. Even when injured, he’s been an integral piece of the Panthers offensive line, helping new acquisitions get caught up, mentoring younger players, and sharing the lessons he’s learned during his nine years in the league. He’s attacked it all with the humility of a former college walk-on, and never taking any of it for granted.
Dedication & Commitment to Community Efforts This Year
Austin kicked off the year in collaboration with fellow football player, Joel Bitonio, as they hosted their 4th annual youth football camp in their home state of Nevada. When Austin returned to the Carolinas for off-season workouts, he participated in the Panthers organization-wide day of service, Keep Pounding Day. He and his wife, Madison, hosted 50 families from A Kid Again for a Halloween costume shopping spree, allowing 120 siblings to let their imaginations run wild and receive free costumes for the holiday. On gameday, he never misses an opportunity to come over and say hello to the Panthers Row of Honor military guests and Keep Pounding Kid from Levine Children’s Hospital.
Dedication & Commitment to Community Efforts in Years Past
Unlike a lot of players, Corbett doesn’t concentrate his off-field philanthropy to his own personal foundation. Instead, he takes a broad-based approach to his charitable work, helping in a number of different ways. He is one of the Panthers’ most-involved players, making multiple appearances per year; whether it’s his fellow teammate’s events or the team’s annual organization-wide events, Corbett has always been front and center since joining the Panthers in 2022.
Positive Character & a Lifestyle of Giving Back
Austin Corbett walks with a spirit of gratitude, because he’s seen what football means to him and to others. He’s not afraid of hard work, whether it’s joining a rebuilding team after winning a Super Bowl or pushing through his own pain. “I knew when I came here, it was going to be tough, and that’s what I wanted to be a part of,” Corbett says. “I wanted to be a part of the grind and helping young guys set a foundation of what it means just to love the game of football and fight every single game.”
Even as he’s dealt with some difficult times the last three years with his own injuries, he’s remained active with the team and the community, showing the power of being engaged with both. Having had the sport taken from him too often in the last few seasons, he’s come to appreciate every game, every snap, and every practice. And that extends to his work outside the game, where he’s always available, squeezing in appearances during his rehabilitation. When he’s interviewed about his own recovery, he’ll rattle off the names of everyone from the weight room staff to the athletic training room interns, people he knows well and appreciates fully. They all tell the same story of a player who works tirelessly, and picks others up even when he’s down. In the same way, his joy is evident, whether he’s lifting up a Make-A-Wish kid after scoring a touchdown, or thanking service members or visiting hospitals.
