The Kansas City Chiefs sprinted through the 2024 regular season and AFC playoffs without a home loss. Two of Kansas City’s victories at Arrowhead Stadium were over the Houston Texans, weeks apart, late in the regular season and then in the divisional round.

The Chiefs swept both games last year with the 23-14 playoff victory. Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans opened up about his team’s performance after the game.

“For me, it is the frustration on all three phases. It is special teams, defense, and offense. We didn’t get it done. Congrats to Andy (Reid) and the Chiefs,” said Ryans during his divisional round postgame press conference. “They deserve it. They have done a great job over the past few years of being consistent, and that is why they have been champions: they consistently get the job done. No matter how the game goes, they find a way to close games out. Congrats to those guys, and I wish them the best moving forward.”

Patrick Mahomes dominated in the regular season matchup last year, scrambling for 33 yards and a touchdown, tossing a touchdown pass with 260 yards total in the air in Week 16. In the postseason game, Travis Kelce led all receivers with five catches for 113 yards and a touchdown, becoming the NFL’s all-time leader in postseason games with 100+ receiving yards.

The Chiefs’ defense notably applied pressure on Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud, spoiling numerous drives and accounting for eight sacks in the divisional round victory. Both teams are close in the AFC Wild Card picture, with a loss on Sunday night practically sealing any hopes of a return to the postseason.
