The New York Jets saw their cornerbacks step up in Sunday’s Week 13 victory over the Atlanta Falcons.

Most notably, veteran cover-man Brandon Stephens arguably played his best game of the season in the 27-24 win. Aaron Glenn will need his cornerbacks to replicate that effort versus the Miami Dolphins in Sunday’s upcoming Week 14 divisional contest.

Head coach Aaron Glenn already ruled out cornerback Jarvis Brownlee for Sunday’s rematch with the Dolphins. Brownlee was a late addition to last week’s injury report with a hip issue and ended up missing the Falcons game. Ruling him out so quickly for Week 14 indicates he’s dealing with a fairly serious hip injury.

Stephens will be the Jets’ CB1 again on Sunday fresh off being the team’s highest-graded defender according to Pro Football Focus in Week 13. Stephens could be asked to shadow Dolphins star wide receiver Jaylen Waddle. Elsewhere, rookie Azareye’h Thomas will be the other boundary corner, with Ja’Sir Taylor and Isaiah Oliver splitting Brownlee’s reps at nickel.

The Jets lost 27-21 to the Dolphins in Week 4. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa completed 17-of-25 passing attempts for 177 yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions.
