Ahead of their next game, the Miami Dolphins got a positive injury update for two key position groups.

The biggest of those updates came surrounding the status of center Aaron Brewer. Brewer has been on the injury report for the past couple of days after dealing with ankle and neck problems. A knee issue had also arisen, and was added to the report on Thursday. However, Brewer was a full participant.

“It was a product of going after it in practice,” McDaniel told reporters before practice Friday. “A bump and bruise type situation, something we’re concerned about or anything serious in that way.”

Brewer Trending Toward Return as Dolphins Reinforce Their Identity Up Front

This is a positive development for the Dolphins as they believe Brewer to be one of their most important and consistent linemen up front. Most importantly, they believe he can help them develop their new identity in the run game a little bit more.

This wasn’t the only positive news for Dolphins fans concerning a position for short-term success. Mcdaniel was also able to give an update on the status of kicker Jason Sanders. Sanders had injured his hip in the Dolphins’ final preseason game and had been replaced by Riley Patterson, who has been solid all year long.

Still, considering the fact that Sanders is a kicker and may need more adjustments before completely being ready to return, Mcdaniel stated that his status on the IR isn’t just because of the hip injury itself.

Updates on Sanders and Daniels Provide Clarity for Short-Term OutlookJason Sanders' return might be a longer wait

“Jason isn’t really surprising me in that he hasn’t had setbacks,” McDaniel said. “We knew we were going to have to be patient. It’s not the idea of ‘is his body not responding?’ He’s capable of kicking footballs through the uprights. Where it’s at [could] risk further injury with the exertion.”

Sanders’ immediate return may not be as required as several other injured Dolphin players. While Mcdaniel was able to use caution with Sanders, the same cannot be said of right guard James Daniels, who has proven hard to replace.

Depending on what month you asked me, I probably would’ve been surprised to know that James isn’t ready at one point, and then at some point, I could kind of see the timeline in terms of it might be a lot longer than we thought,” McDaniel said.

While Daniels is certainly a concern, the Dolphins can certainly take what they can get with the positive news about Brewer. The Dolphins O-line has been key to their success this season, and Brewer’s imminent return will immediately bolster that front for them.

Other news that Dolphins fans can grow excited about is that Mcdaniel fully expects everyone on the 53-man roster to be able to suit up for this weekend’s game against the New York Jets. The Dolphins, with this new look full bill of health, will look to extend their three game winning streak and continue to push for perhaps the most unlikeliest of playoff spots.
