The Tampa Bay Buccaneers generated some excitement this week with the news that Mike Evans was returning to practice this week alongside position mate Jalen McMillan.

Both of the Bucs’ passing game weapons were indeed able to mix in at practice as they begin their preparations to return to game action.

Unfortunately, that return won’t take place this week. Per Todd Bowles, Evans and McMillan will be out on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints, in addition to safety Rashad Wisdom.

Bucs WRs Mike Evans and Jalen McMillan won’t play on Sunday vs. New Orleans

Evans suffered a broken clavicle during the Bucs’ 24-9 loss back on October 20 to the Detroit Lions when he landed awkwardly trying to catch a pass. He was placed on injured reserve and has missed the last five games coming into this week. McMillan suffered a neck injury when he landed awkwardly on his neck/head in the preseason against Pittsburgh and has been out since.

The Bucs have 21 days from Wednesday to activate Evans and McMillan from injured reserve. If they aren’t activated, they would be out for the season.

The news wasn’t all doom and gloom for Tampa Bay on Friday. Chris Godwin was cleared for Sunday, as were Baker Mayfield, Bucky Irving, and Haason Reddick. All were able to play last week Arizona but have been on the injury report this week. However, the status of Tristan Wirfs is worth monitoring. He finished the game last week but has been dealing with an oblique injury that kept him out of practice the last two days. He’s officially questionable for Sunday after getting in a limited practice on Friday.

The Bucs and Saints get underway on Sunday at 1:00 pm ET from Raymond James Stadium.
