18 groups express interest in Browns Stadium site redevelopment on Cleveland lakefront

  • December 6, 2025

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – Eighteen groups have expressed interest in redeveloping the soon-to-be-demolished Browns Stadium site, officials announced Friday.

The North Coast Waterfront Development Corporation interviewed only 11 of the 18 groups, asking them what they would do with the property. No names are being revealed at this time, only the types of developments being proposed.

Scott Skinner, president and executive director of North Coast Waterfront Development Corporation, said the proposals include a wide range of uses.

“Responses for proposed uses included multi-family housing, hospitality so hotels, food and beverage, mixed use development. Retail, recreation, music,” Skinner said. “50 acres is a very large site. So I imagine you will see several different things on the site. It will not be just one element.”

Planning commission raises airport concerns

Skinner shared the update with the Cleveland City Planning Commission, which raised questions about the project’s potential impact on Burke Lakefront Airport.

Planning commission member Charles Slithe pointed out concerns about building height restrictions.

“I would hate to plan and have to compel shorter buildings, then three years down the road find out the airport is going to close. And did we put the cart before the horse by not understanding how the two do interact with each other?” Slithe said.

The stadium will not be demolished until 2029, giving planners time to address the various considerations involved in the redevelopment.
