Lions’ safety Brian Branch suffers torn Achilles.

DETROIT. (WILX) – Detroit Lions’ safety Brian Branch suffered a torn Achilles in the fourth quarter of the Lions’ 44-30 victory over the Cowboys on Thursday Night Football, per a report from ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

Branch limped off the field alongside trainers before being carted off after breaking up a pass in the end zone in the fourth quarter. The Lions announced he was being evaluated for an ankle injury.

Branch’s injury is the latest in a string of injuries in the Lions’ defensive backfield; safety Kerby Joseph has been out since Week 6 with a knee injury, and corner Terrion Arnold was placed on IR earlier this week with a shoulder injury.

Branch was a second-round pick in the 2023 draft and has been a major piece in the Lions’ secondary since his arrival, making his first Pro Bowl in 2024.

The diagnosis means Branch will miss the rest of the season. The 8-5 Lions next play vs. the Rams on Sunday, Dec. 14.
