Packers rookies Stackhouse, Brinson look to contribute to D-line
Green Bay Packers rookie defensive tackles Nazir Stackhouse and Warren Brinson talk about how they hope to help the defense.
GREEN BAY – Green Bay Packers defensive lineman Devonte Wyatt has been placed on injured reserve, the team announced Dec. 5.
Wyatt suffered an ankle injury on the defense’s final snap in the 31-24 victory over the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving.
After the Packers lost veteran defensive tackle Kenny Clark to the Dallas Cowboys as part of the Micah Parsons trade, Wyatt became the team’s most productive interior defender.
Wyatt appeared in 10 games this season, recording 27 total tackles (15 solo), four sacks (third on the team), six tackles for a loss, seven QB hits and two passes defensed.
“He’s a guy that’s going to be pretty tough to replace,” Packers coach Matt LaFleur said. “And I think it just falls on everybody else kind of raising the level of their game.”
The Packers will count on Colby Wooden, Karl Brooks, and rookies Warren Brinson and Nazir Stackhouse to elevate their play to fill the hole left by Wyatt. Wooden has 36 combined tackles (19 solo), six tackles for loss and two quarterback hits. Brooks has been dealing with an ankle injury over the past two weeks. He has added a half-sack and 17 combined tackles.
