Will Houston Texans cornerback Kamari Lassiter suit up when they take on the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night Football?
Lassiter, who’s been dealing with a foot injury, returned to practice in a limited fashion on Friday, though it was just a walkthrough with little reps. KPRC 2 Sports’ Aaron Wilson reported that Lassiter’s injury is significant, but is not expected to be season-ending.
According to Wilson, Lassiter will try to push through before Sunday’s kickoff, as Houston would love to see him play. Should be out, Houston likely would turn to Tremon Smith, with newcomer JaMarcus Ingram serving as the backup.
A former 2024 second-round pick, Lassiter has started every game this season for the Texans, totaling 66 tackles, two interceptions, and 10 pass breakups. Often overshadowed by his All-Pro teammate, Lassiter has emerged as one of the better No. 2 cornerbacks in the league.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7:20 p.m. on NBC. With a win, the Texans would be a 90 percent favorite to make the AFC Playoff.
