Minority owner Tom Brady’s influence with the Las Vegas Raiders has reportedly been felt from afar for most of the 2025 NFL season.

According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, “hasn’t been in the facility more than a handful of times this season” due to his duties as the lead color analyst for the NFL on Fox, but he is still well aware of everything going on within the organization.

That is because his longtime friend and trainer, Alex Guerrero, is in the building as the Raiders’ wellness coordinator. Per Russini, Guerrero serves as Brady’s “eyes and ears” at the team facility.

Brady reportedly also has daily conversations with Guerrero, owner Mark Davis, general manager John Spytek, coaches and players.

While Brady is arguably the greatest player in NFL history with a record seven Super Bowl wins to his credit as a quarterback with the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, his presence has yet to turn around the fortunes of the Raiders.

Vegas entered the season having missed the playoffs in three straight years, and it will become four in a row this season, as the Raiders have the second-worst record in the AFC at 2-10.

Russini noted that while many expected the Brady effect to help the Raiders land a big-time head coach and quarterback during the offseason, that wasn’t the case.

Rather than hiring Mike Vrabel or Ben Johnson, the Raiders settled for 74-year-old Pete Carroll as head coach after he was out of coaching in 2024.

The Raiders were linked to a trade for Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, but that didn’t happen. Also, Russini reported that Brady did not want the team to pursue Sam Darnold, who is enjoying a career year with the Seattle Seahawks.

Instead, the Raiders acquired quarterback Geno Smith from the Seahawks, and he has struggled mightily, throwing for 2,532 yards, 15 touchdowns and a league-high 14 interceptions.

The Raiders will go back to the drawing board this offseason, perhaps re-assessing Carroll’s viability as the head coach and considering the selection of a quarterback early in the 2026 NFL draft.

Based on Russini’s report suggesting that Brady has his hands in every major move the Raiders make, he figures to have his hands firmly in the decision-making process.
