The Los Angeles Chargers’ star QB, Justin Herbert, may be bucking the odds and looking to get back under center when the Los Angeles Chargers take on the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 14.
Per the Athletic’s Dianna Russini, Justin Herbert is expected to play against the Eagles on Monday Night Football after the surgery on his non-throwing hand.
The veteran quarterback underwent successful surgery Monday to stabilize a fractured bone in his left non-throwing hand. The team currently lists him as day to day, but Herbert has made it clear he is preparing as if he will suit up.
The injury happened late in the first quarter of the Chargers’ recent win over the Las Vegas Raiders when a hit to the hand forced Herbert to leave briefly.

He returned with a protective cast and glove and finished the game while the offense shifted to more shotgun and pistol formations. That toughness drew praise from coaches even before the surgery.

Herbert suffered a metacarpal fracture in his left hand, serious enough to need surgical stabilization. If there was any hidden ligament damage or if his grip strength did not return fast enough, his ability to handle snaps or take contact could have become a major issue for Herbert.
In the 2025 season, Justin Herbert has thrown for 2,842 yards this season with 21 touchdowns, 10 interceptions, and a 66.9 percent completion rate, giving him a 94.9 passer rating. He is averaging roughly 237 passing yards per game as he continues to anchor the Chargers’ offense.
In short, Herbert’s push to play in Week 14 shows exactly why the Chargers still believe they have a shot to steady their season. If his hand holds up and his production stays on track, Los Angeles at least knows its franchise quarterback is willing to fight through anything to keep them competitive.
