KYLER Murray’s NFL season is over and his Arizona Cardinals future is left hanging in the air.

The 28-year-old, who hasn’t featured for the struggling franchise since week 5, received bad news after undergoing more tests.

“He had some more tests done this week, went out of state, got another opinion on it,” Gannon said. “

It’s not progressing where it’s gonna make sense that he can go.”

Murray sprained his foot in a 22-21 loss to the Titans back in late October.

The No. 1 pick in the 2019 draft ends his season with 962 passing yards, six touchdowns and three interceptions.

Backup Jacoby Brissett has thrived in his absence and will continue quarterback duties for the final five games of the season.

With a 3-9 record in the NFC West, the Cardinals are already eliminated from playoff contention making it an easy call not to risk one of their star players.

Murray is due $36.8 million in guaranteed salary and bonuses for 2026, with a $19.5 million roster bonus for 2027 looming in March.

That’s nearly $58 million in dead cap money to potentially swallow if he’s released before June 1, but rumours persist about his future.

There has long been rumours of unease during his time with the Cardinals and frustration with his injury issues, bringing just one winning season and playoff trip to Arizona since he was drafted – an 11-6 campaign in 2021.

Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon refused to comment on Murray’s future in light of his season-ending injury.

“ I’m worried about the Rams right now,” he said.

“ I just feel bad for the quarterback,” Gannon said. “He got hurt and he wasn’t healthy enough to play, that’s first and foremost, that’s where I would leave it right now.”

Well, that’s hardly reassuring for Murray either.

Murray remains under contract through 2028 and if he is still on the roster by March 22 next year, his $19.5 million salary for 2027 will become fully guaranteed.
