INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Indianapolis Colts (8-4) are getting ready for a monster matchup Sunday at the Jacksonville Jaguars (8-4).
The winner of the AFC South clash will take sole possession of first place in the division.
The Colts did reveal some good news though on Saturday ahead of the contest. They announced that linebacker Jaylon Carlies (ankle) has been activated from the Injured Reserve list. In addition, his “questionable” designation has been lifted for the game.
It’s the first time that Carlies will be available to play this season.
Last year, Carlies played in 10 games, finishing with 36 tackles and a sack.
Meanwhile, the Colts also announced on Saturday that they have elevated kicker Blake Grupe and defensive tackle Chris Wormley to the active roster from the practice squad.
Grupe was signed to the practice squad earlier this week after the Colts waived previous kicker Michael Badgley.
“It’s always tough when you make those decisions,” Colts head coach Shane Steichen said on Wednesday. “Like I said before, I love Badgley. I love Badgley the person, and sometimes you’ve got to make tough decisions like that. And we’re excited for Blake and his opportunity.”
It wasn’t all good news though on the injury front for Indianapolis. It announced that defensive end Tyquan Lewis (ankle) has been downgraded to “out.”
Lewis has played in 9 games this season. He’s recorded 8 tackles and 3 sacks.
The Colts and Jaguars will kickoff at 1 p.m. EDT inside EverBank Stadium on Sunday. The Colts have not won in Jacksonville since 2014.
