The Seattle Seahawks are entering into an exciting new era of football. The team decided to undergo yet another reset and major quarterback change. After Geno Smith requested a trade, the Seahawks quickly shipped him to Las Vegas to reunite with Pete Carroll, then signed Sam Darnold in free agency. But Seattle was not done adding to the quarterback position.

During the 2025 NFL draft, the Seahawks made quite the splash on the second day by selecting Alabama’s Jalen Milroe in the third round, making him the highest quarterback drafted by Seattle since Russell Wilson in 2012. The decision to pick Milroe gives the Seahawks a legitimate quarterback succession plan for the first time in the John Schneider era.

Speaking of Schneider, Seattle’s general manager spoke about both quarterbacks at length during an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show. Schneider praised Darnold’s leadership thus far, and stated his expectations for him are “very high.”

Of course, plenty of the conversation focused on Milroe, who Eisen described as a “lottery ticket.” As in, if he hits, it will be a massive win for the Seahawks. Schneider then expanded on his time with the Green Bay Packers when Brett Favre – a quarterback known for his boom or bust skillset – was with the organization, and how Milroe has a similar range in that capacity. Naturally emphasizing the need for him to grow and develop under Macdonald’s system.

Schneider’s full comments, under five minutes, can be seen in the tweet below.
