Several moves have been made for the Houston Texans ahead of their road trip to Kansas City.
Veteran safety Jalen Mills was promoted from the practice squad to the active roster, according to the team’s transaction list. In a corresponding move, the Texans have placed rookie safety Jaylen Reed on the injured reserve for the second time, thus ending his season.

Reed, a sixth-round pick out of Penn State, was named a starter after recording 11 tackles and a fumble recovery against the Buffalo Bills. In Week 13’s win over the Colts, the rookie broke a metal plate inside his forearm and had to have it surgically repaired, according to KPRC 2 Sports’ Aaron Wilson.
His arm was in a sling after the game, but the Texans elected not to place him on IR immediately. After not practicing all week, the team elected to end his season and open up a roster spot.
Safety has already become an issue for Houston after starter M.J. Stewart suffered a torn quadriceps, ending his season back in Week 10. Veteran Myles Bryant is expected to move into the starting role with Reed season’s over, while Mills will serve as the backup.

For Sunday’s contest, the Texans also elevated cornerback Alijah Huzzie and defensive tackle Haggai Ndubuisi from the practice squad. Huzzie could serve as depth for the cornerback spot with Kamari Lassiter (foot) listed as questionable after missing most of practice this week.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7:20 p.m.
