On Sunday the Minnesota Vikings play host to the Washington Commanders. They are a single loss away from playoff elimination. A loss became more probably earlier this week when Dan Quinn announced that Jayden Daniels would return following his elbow injury.

Minnesota has struggled with injuries all season, and they’ll have a bit more shuffling to deal with on Sunday. Initially the Vikings were 1.5 point favorites to win in Week 14, but they are now 1.5 point underdogs.

Ty Chandler returned to practice this week after being out since the first game of the season. He won’t be ready to go, and the Vikings have multiple players joining the active roster.

This weekend J.J. McCarthy will be back under center after clearing concussion protocol. Max Brosmer started for Kevin O’Connell last week, but it didn’t go well. Now John Wolford will join the active roster giving the Minnesota Vikings three quarterbacks.

Wolford hasn’t played in a game since 2022 with the Los Angeles Rams. Minnesota is hopeful he won’t get into the game as that would mean both McCarthy and Brosmer bow out.

Beyond adding a quarterback, the MN Vikings elevated cornerback Dwight McGlothern and defensive lineman Taki Taimani. They’ll hope on the defensive side of the ball with both Jalen Redmond and Theo Jackson having already been ruled out.

It was possible that Ty Chandler would return, but with both Aaron Jones and Jordan Mason healthy, there isn’t much need for him to play. He has also since lost his return duties to rookie Myles Price.

Minnesota will have former star linebacker Anthony Barr in town to blow the Gjallahorn pregame. The Vikings are 4-8 while the Commanders are 3-9.
