Charlie Cummings breaks down his prediction and pick for Sunday’s Week 14 clash between the Atlanta Falcons and the Seattle Seahawks.

It’s a battle of the birds on Sunday between the Atlanta Falcons and the Seattle Seahawks. The Falcons are playing for pride more than anything at this stage of the season. But the Seahawks are in must-win territory to keep their standing in the playoff race. As Seattle tries to roll in and steal the win, Atlanta will have to play spoiler at home.

The Seahawks enter as 6.5-point road favorites on DraftKings Sportsbook, while the Falcons are +260 underdogs. The game’s total is set at 44.5 points. Here is my preview, pick and prediction for Sunday’s Week 13 matchup between the Falcons and Seahawks.

Falcons vs. Seahawks Preview

The Seahawks flexed their muscles last week with a 26-0 win over the Minnesota Vikings. But still, they are unable to separate from the top of the NFC West race. The Seahawks, Rams and 49ers are all tied with nine wins. With divisional games left to play, the imperative is to keep pace until those decisive games. And that means avoiding trap game losses like this one.

Fortunately, Seattle brings in an explosive offense to test a surprisingly robust Atlanta defense. Led by breakout star Jaxon Smith-Njigba, they’ve put up consistently strong results through the air to complement the running game. Sam Darnold understands the formula: find JSN and let it fly.

The Seahawks’ elite defensive line has also fueled them. Anchored by DeMarcus Lawrence and Leonard Williams, they’re wrecking opposing offensive lines in both the run game and the pass. When you can stop the run and pressure the opposing quarterback with only four linemen, it opens up all kinds of coverages for the defense. That has been giving their opponents problems all season long.

DeMarcus Lawrence and Leonard Williams form one of the best duos in the NFL, regardless of position.

If the banged-up Falcons have a hope of pulling the upset, two things need to happen. One, they need A.J. Terrell and the secondary to keep JSN and friends in check. Two, they need every bit of Bijan Robinson they can get. Perhaps the best all-around running back in football, a dominant performance on the ground and through the air would go a long way toward a win. Fortunately, he tends to turn out those performances.

Falcons vs. Seahawks Prediction, Pick

The lack of true offensive explosion for the Falcons is the concern here. Seattle has so many ways they can beat you down the field; Atlanta more or less has one. Few teams can keep a lid on Robinson, but the Seahawks are one such team. Unless he turns in an MVP-level performance, the Seahawks will roll to a comfortable victory on the road.

Best Bet: Seattle Seahawks -6.5
