The Philadelphia Eagles’ (8-4) offense continues to struggle.

The Eagles have only scored more than 20 points once in their last four matchups, which includes a 24-15 loss to the Chicago Bears. Philadelphia’s offense ranks No. 16 in the NFL in PFSN’s metrics with an offense impact score of 74.5. The unit slots one spot ahead of the Jacksonville Jaguars and a single place behind the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Many blame offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo for the woes, which led to a change ahead of their Week 14 game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Eagles Make Offensive Change

Although the Eagles have a comfortable lead in the NFC East, they are still battling for playoff positioning. With the offensive troubles continuing, head coach Nick Sirianni made a decision ahead of the Chargers game.

ESPN’s Tim McManus reported that “Coach Nick Sirianni has been more involved in the offensive preparations this week, according to team sources, as the Eagles look to bounce back Monday night at the Los Angeles Chargers.”

Here is a look at how some fans reacted to the change:

@SarahWahinya: “More involvement from Sirianni could be the spark the offense desperately needs… or it could just highlight how underprepared they were before.”

@FiveQuarterSM: “Smart. Their current playcalling is killing their star caliber offense.”

@ShawnJr321: “Oh he decided to actually coach? Fascinating development”

McManus continued, “Sirianni has been more vocal in offensive meetings and has been presenting material alongside offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo, sources said. According to one source, he has been addressing the group for longer than usual at the top of the meetings before ceding to Patullo, who continues to run them.”

The criticism of Patullo had gone so far that his home in New Jersey was vandalized. While the Eagles’ passing game has not performed at an elite level, the near consensus is the issues start with the run game.

Whether it’s the offensive line struggling to perform or stay healthy, Jalen Hurts running the ball less, or Saquon Barkley simply not breaking away for game-changing runs, the Eagles have just a few more weeks to get the offense sorted before the postseason.
