The Detroit Lions will only be able to match the strong results of their last two seasons if they avoid any further losses. The team currently holds an 8–5 record.
Having already played their Week 14 matchup—a 44–30 win over the Dallas Cowboys—the Lions now stand as the highest-scoring team in the entire NFL.

Their offense remains exceptionally dominant (though slightly less so than in previous years), but the defense will need to concede fewer points if Detroit hopes to secure more wins.
A major reason the offense continues to thrive is its field general. Jared Goff has been the starting quarterback since 2021, and the only season in which he failed to surpass 4,000 passing yards was his first in Detroit.
This year, Goff has thrown for 3,334 yards and 26 touchdowns, posting a QBR of 56.5.
Fans believe the team has a realistic chance to reach the top of the NFL, but the quarterback must deliver his very best to help mask the defensive shortcomings.
The Lions have also dealt with significant injuries that have disrupted their rhythm.
The physical setbacks suffered by Sam LaPorta and Terrion Arnold are clear examples of why performance levels have dipped in certain areas.
Early in the season, Detroit was widely viewed as a legitimate Super Bowl contender, but betting confidence has declined.
According to ESPN projections updated on December 2, 2025, the Lions now have a 58% chance of reaching the playoffs and a 12% chance of winning their division. Their probability of making the Super Bowl currently stands at 8%.
