Should the Colts be favored in the AFC South despite the Jags 8-4 record?
Despite Jacksonville’s 8-4 record, USA TODAY Sports’ Chris Bumbaca and Prince Grimes explain why they won’t win the AFC South.
Shedeur Sanders makes his third NFL start today for the Cleveland Browns (3-9).
The fifth-round pick has slightly improved since being thrust under center in Week 11 due to an injury to fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel.
Sanders earned a win in his first NFL start against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 12 but his second saw the Browns lose 26-8 to the San Francisco 49ers in Week 13.
Cleveland has the most receptions by rookies (109 catches) in the NFL this season, so Sanders is just one aspect of the youth movement happening in The Land.
On the opposing sideline in Week 14 is the No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward for the Tennessee Titans (1-11). Today will be the 13th start for the Titans’ rookie, who has totaled 2,351 passing yards, seven passing touchdowns, and six interceptions.
The Titans’ defense has allowed 7.7 yards per pass, the fourth-most in the NFL. Tennessee has also allowed the fourth-highest average QBR in the league. Sanders has an opportunity to earn a win over the No. 1 pick and perform against a defense that has struggled in 2025.
USA TODAY Sports will track Sanders’ third NFL start vs. the Titans. Below are his stats and highlights from the game, as well as an analysis of his performance and more.
Sanders had his worst throw of the day on a second-and-20 from his own 45-yard line. The rookie quarterback did well to navigate pressure in the pocket but made an ill-advised throw of the middle of the field after holding the ball for several seconds.
Sanders’ throw sailed over Larvadain’s head and allowed Xavier Woods to easily intercept it and return it 35 yards to set the Titans up with great field position.
Shedeur Sanders ended his string of incompletions by hitting Harold Fannin Jr. for a 6-yard gain to open the drive, but Cleveland couldn’t move the ball any further. The Browns punted again, but Sanders and Co. still have a 14-7 lead in the third quarter.
The Browns weren’t able to get much going offensively on their first two drives of the second half. Sanders went 0 for 3 passing over the two drives, during which Cleveland gained just 33 total yards.
The Browns are still leading 17-14, nearing the midpoint of the third quarter.
Sanders has the Browns offense playing well against the Titans. The rookie has completed 9 of 14 passes in the opening 30 minutes for 180 yards and two touchdowns.
Sanders has flashed good downfield accuracy and made what may have been his best pinpoint throw of the season on his 60-yard touchdown strike to Jerry Jeudy.
Cleveland is taking a 17-14 lead into the locker room thanks, in part, to Sanders’ strong opening half. He will get a chance to improve upon his numbers coming out of the locker room, as the Browns will open the second half with the ball.
Sanders made one of the best throws of his young NFL career to date near the end of the second quarter of his third career start. The 23-year-old fired a perfect, middle-of-the-field strike to Jeudy, who found space and was able to run into the end-zone with ease.
Sanders’ throw was perfectly placed, as he layered it over several defenders and hit Jeudy in stride to create the score. The touchdown gave Cleveland its first lead of the day at 17-14.
The Browns allowed Sanders to throw on third-and-goal from the 1-yard line. The rookie quarterback had plenty of time in the pocket before finding Njoku while surveying the field and hitting him with a perfect strike for a touchdown.
Sanders has now completed 4 of 5 passes for 79 yards and a touchdown early in Sunday’s game. Most of his passing production came on a 58-yard screen pass to Quinshon Judkins.
Browns linebacker Devin Bush gave his team great field possession after intercepting Cam Ward. Sanders then completed his first two pass attempts of the drive (and the day) before throwing a third-and-7 pass out of bounds after scrambling away from pressure and failing to find an open receiver.
Andre Szymt made the 38-yard attempt to get the Browns on the board. Cleveland now trails 7-3.
Cleveland’s offense couldn’t get anything going on its first possession. Two of their three plays went for negative yardage, with Sanders suffered a 2-yard loss on a sack while trying to evade pressure on a third-and-11.
The Browns were forced to punt, which will give Ward another chance to show what he can do.
Cam Ward and the Titans got off to a good start after getting the ball first coming out of halftime. The No. 1 overall pick completed all four of his passes for 48 yards and a touchdown to give Tennessee an early 7-0 lead.
Sanders will now come to the field looking to answer his fellow rookie’s strong first drive.
Sanders was able to watch his son make his first start in Week 12, when the Browns traveled to Las Vegas to face the Raiders. Now, the Colorado coach will be in Cleveland as his son looks to lead the Browns to a win over the Titans.
The two shared a moment together on the field before the game:
