The New York Jets were put back into a few all too familiar positions by the Miami Dolphins in Week 14.

On Sunday, the Jets (3-10) felt defeat once against after their win last week as the Dolphins (6-7) took the 34-10 win at MetLife Stadium.

The other?

With that, here are five takeaways from the Jets’ loss to the Dolphins:

Goodbye, playoffs

In doing so, Miami keep their playoff hopes alive. Meanwhile, New York is officially done. The Jets have now officially been eliminated from the postseason hunt in 2025. Realistically, it has long been over… but the Green and White are truly done now.

Brady debuts

While a potentially an exciting change for a moment, that ended quickly as the the game eventually got out of hand.

Quarterback Tyrod Taylor went down with a groin injury and did not return to the contest. That meant New York get their first look at Brady Cook under center.

It did not go well. Cook had two fumbles and two interceptions without a score. Overall, Cook was 14-for-30 passing for 163 yards.

Time will tell who starts next week.

Early passion wasn’t there

Head coach Aaron Glenn took the blame for this one. Glenn said he did not have his team ready to go.

It showed… the Dolphins raced out to a 21-lead. They never came close to giving that up.

Run away

A big reason why the Jets couldn’t stop the Dolphins was their rushing attack.

Miami’s Jaylen Wright led the way with 107 yards on the ground. De’Von Achane still made a huge impact as well, putting up 92 yards of his own.

As a team, the Dolphins ran for a massive 239 yards rushing. You won’t win like that.

Still have a special, special teams

Finishing on one strong note: Isaiah Williams had another return for a touchdown as the Jets were still strong in the special teams area once again. A fake punt attempt was converted as well.

Special teams coordinator Chris Banjo deserves a raise.
