Currently getting badly run down: Kansas City’s quarterback Patrick Mahomes struggles in vain against Houston’s strong defense
Keystone
An era is coming to an end in the American football league NFL. After three Super Bowls in a row, the Kansas City Chiefs are likely to miss the playoffs.
Things are not going well for star quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs this season. On Monday night, they conceded their seventh defeat in a 10:20 loss at home to Houston.
With just six wins, the team, weakened by injuries and retirements, has its worst record after 13 games since 2012. The statistical experts put the probability of reaching the playoffs at just 15 percent with four rounds to go. In the last six years, the Chiefs have been the all-dominant team with five Super Bowl appearances and three championship titles. Kansas City has never missed the playoffs since Mahomes’ debut year in 2017.
The quarterback himself has also lacked much of his sparkle this year. He went without a touchdown pass against Houston and threw three interceptions, one in the closing stages when Kansas City still had a chance to equalize.
