Stafford is the MVP favorite with only four games remaining

Matthew Stafford and Drake Maye have gone back and forth as the MVP favorite in recent weeks and the top of the board flipped once again on Sunday. Stafford led the Rams to a dominant 28-point win over the Arizona Cardinals in Week 14, bolstering his case as the NFL’s most valuable player.

According to BetMGM, Stafford is now -175 to win league MVP, with Maye sitting at +200. Entering this week, Maye was the favorite at -120 over Stafford (+115). At -175, Stafford has an implied probability of 63.6% to win MVP, making him the odds-on favorite with four weeks remaining.

The next-closest player after Stafford and Maye is Jordan Love at +900, followed by Josh Allen at +1500. After that, everyone else is +10000 or longer, making this a four-horse race heading into the final stretch.

With three more touchdown passes in the Rams’ 45-17 win on Sunday, Stafford now has 35 touchdowns and only four interceptions. Maye ranks second in the league with 3,412 yards but he only has 23 touchdown passes and has two more interceptions than Stafford.

Stafford has a great chance to lock up the award in the next two weeks with games against the Lions and Seahawks. If the Rams win both of those and move closer to clinching the No. 1 seed, Stafford could become a virtual lock – assuming they don’t win in spite of him.

In no way is Stafford focused on winning MVP but adding that award to his resume will only help him earn a spot in Canton one day.
