The Buffalo Bills took a thrilling win at home over the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 14.

On Sunday, the Bills (9-4) rallied to beat the Bengals (4-9) in a 39-34 final.

In terms of the postseason, the win for Buffalo is as important as it was thrilled As for Cincinnati, their realistic look at the playoffs comes to an end with this loss.

With that, here are Bills Wire’s five takeaways from the Bills’ win over the Bengals:

That four minutes

The most pivotal point in the game was that four and a half minute spell that saw the Bills score 21 points in that span. The highlighted play amongst all that was Christian Benford’s world-class interception of Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow. The cornerback took that one in for a pick-six score, too.

Not the start they wanted

The reason the Bills had to eventually rally and come from behind to beat the Bengals was because of a very poor start. Cincinnati looked like the team battling for the postseason position out of the gate as Buffalo trailed 14-3 very early.

You can’t do that moving forward, Bills. –

Weather plays a part

For both the Bills and Bengals we saw the winter weather make an impact on this game. Passes were dropped all over the field and the ball was put on the ground. Specifically for Buffalo, running back James Cook had a brutal fumble at the goal line prior to the four minutes worth of magic.

Defensive holes

The Bills defense had an incredible swing with Benford’s score and another interception one play later with defensive end AJ Epenesa snapped a deflected pass.

There was a reason Buffalo was in that hole on defense, though.

The Bills were getting beat up by Burrow and wide receiver Tee Higgins. Burrow had four total touchdowns and two of those went to Higgins. There were sequences where Higgins and teammate Ja’Marr Chase were beating their defenders with ease.

Josh’s refusal

While he had to play catchup, there was just a feeling in the air at Highmark Stadium watching Bills quarterback Josh Allen play on Sunday. It looked like one of those games he was just not going to let his team lose.

He did not.
