LSU football is heading to a familiar spot for its bowl game: The Tigers are in the Texas Bowl for the second straight year, according to a report from On3. One year after beating Baylor, LSU will face Houston on Dec. 27. The game will kick off at 8:15 p.m. CT and be carried on ESPN.
At 7-5, LSU is bowl eligible for a fifth straight year. Interim coach Frank Wilson is expected to remain at the helm through the bowl, even though his status on new coach Lane Kiffin’s staff remains unclear.
This will not be the first time LSU heads to the Texas Bowl with an interim coach. LSU faced Kansas State in 2021 with offensive line coach Brad Davis acting as the interim after Ed Orgeron left the program.
Houston (9-3) has a chance to reach double-digit wins. That would be a big accomplishment for coach Willie Fritz in his second year leading the program. Houston offensive coordinator Slade Nagle was LSU’s tight ends coach in 2024.
Not much is at stake for LSU in this one, but it will give LSU’s youngsters a chance to earn more experience ahead of the 2026 season.
