After 14 weeks of the NFL season, the playoff pictures in both conferences are starting to become a lot more clear. The AFC playoff picture in particular looks a lot different in 2025 than it has in years past. The Bills aren’t winning their division, the Ravens aren’t even in a playoff spot, and the Jacksonville Jaguars lead the AFC South after their win over the Colts. The biggest shock of them all, though, comes in the AFC West.

The Kansas City Chiefs have dominated the AFC West and the AFC for nearly seven seasons now, making the AFC Championship game every year, and a team that has played in five of the past six Super Bowls. They are one of the greatest dynasties we have ever seen in the NFL, but now it appears that it is coming to an end.
NFL experts all agree: the Chiefs have lost their magic. They are no longer winning close games, their offense doesn’t have that dynamic/explosive ability that it once did, and they don’t strike fear into their opponents. The Chiefs have already lost the AFC West, and they currently sit outside the playoff picture, too.

The Chiefs remaining schedule is a bit of a mixed bag. They have to play the Chargers and Broncos, who are both ahead of them in the division, and teams that have already beaten them this season. If they lose even one of those games, their playoff hopes essentially die. They do have two easy games on their schedule, though, with the Titans and Raiders. So, although they aren’t mathematically eliminated, the schedule and the current standings are not in their favor.

The Chiefs need 10 or more wins to make the playoffs this season, and according to the experts, they have less than a 20% chance. With another loss, that number will drop below 10%. This might be the end of the dynasty.
