San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings was recently the subject of criticism for his trash talk, but he doesn’t feel he crossed a line.
Jennings responded to Cleveland Browns defensive lineman Shelby Harris’ assertion that he “said some things that you should not say to another man,” downplaying his part in the hubbub.
“I mean, [Harris] said some things, so why ain’t he saying what he said?” Jennings told reporters on Monday, per Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk. “I don’t know, bro. I do know it ain’t that bad. That’s what I do know. I’m gonna just keep it to myself, what I said, but I know it wasn’t that bad, and he knows that. It’s funny. If he sees me to smack me, maybe y’all find out that day.”
Harris ripped Jennings following the Week 13 matchup between the Browns and 49ers.
“I see why he got punched in the nuts,” Harris said at the time, referencing Carolina Panthers safety Tre’von Moehrig being suspended for a game after striking Jennings in the groin area on Monday. “He says some things that you should not say to another man. Ever. But I don’t respect it because you say it and then go run behind your offensive line. That’s some real soft s–t, and I want that known. I see exactly why they punched your nuts and I’m surprised nobody’s punched him in the jaw yet.”
Jennings was asked where he would draw a line in trash talk and he responded that you “shouldn’t say you want to kill someone.”
Jennings and the 49ers (9-4) will return from their bye week next Sunday against the Tennessee Titans (2-11).
