The Los Angeles Rams have seen Blake Corum perform at his best the last couple of weeks.
Blake Corum had his best professional game in the lost to the Carolina Panthers, rushing for 81 yards on 7 carries alongside a touchdown. Against the Cardinals, the running back ran for 128 yards and 2 touchdowns on 12 carries; this is the first time Corum ran over 100 yards and 2 TDs in a single game in the NFL.
In his rookie season, the second year running back had never run for more than 42 yards in a single game. In his second season, he has 5 games with more than 50 yards.
Rams head coach Sean McVay talked about the development of Corum after the teams win on Sunday and how the team splits the running back load.
“I think there’s a cool understanding of if you need a blow, let the other guy come in,” the head coach said. “I think Blake articulated it really well… how they positively spell one another, they positively push one another.”
“I think Blake’s emergence has been awesome. Kyren’s obviously done a great job for the last few years and you’re just seeing Blake earn more and more confidence with the production he is having. It’s a special thing to witness, but I love the way those two are playing off one another…”
McVay credits the Rams running back coach Ron Gould for getting the best out out his running backs.
Williams’ ran for 84 yards in the win against the divisional rivals.
Running Back Duo Heating Up

Kyren Williams signed a three-year, $33 million contract before the start of the season to be the teams lead back this season. The running back recorded over 1,200 rushing yards the last two seasons and appears on track to do it for a third season in a row.
When the RB signed his contract extension, it was known that Williams will get the bulk of the load out of the backfield. But with Blake Corum now warming up to Sean McVay’s offense, Los Angeles could have a good duo heading into the postseason.
Corum has outrun his teammate the last two games and has received similar amounts of rushing attempts the last couple weeks. This will bode well for the Rams for the remainder of the season, as it will allow opposing defensive coordinators name prepare for a different running back.
Since Williams become the leading rusher for the team, the Rams have not had another running back run for more than 320 the past two seasons.
Now with two rushers over 500 yards, the offense has become more than just a passing offense.
