Texas Longhorns linebacker Anthony Hill has declared for the NFL Draft. He made the announcement with a statement on social media.

“Dear Longhorn Family, thank you for embracing me from the moment I arrived in Austin,” Hill wrote. “Representing Texas and wearing the burnt orange has truly been an honor. To my teammates — my brothers — thank you for pushing me and riding with me through every moment. To my coaches — Coach Nansan, Coach Huep, and Coach Gilbert — thank you for believing in me, challenging me, and helping me grow on and off the field. To my family — Mom, Dad, and my little brother — thank you for your love, sacrifice, and constant support. None of this would be possible without you.”

“With gratitude for this journey and excitement for the future, I am officially declaring for the NFL Draft. Hook ‘Em, Anthony Hill Jr.,” he concluded.

Texas is now looking forward to playing in the Citrus Bowl against Michigan on New Year’s Eve in Orlando. Hill, notably, did not comment in his NFL Draft announcement whether or not he’s going to opt out of that game or play one more time for the Longhorns. However, Inside Texas did report that it’s his intention to opt out of the game.

A native of Denton, Texas, who played his high school football at Ryan, Anthony Hill came to Texas as a five-star recruit in the Class of 2023. He was the 16th-ranked player nationally and the second-ranked linebacker in that recruiting cycle. He would choose to go to Texas over numerous other schools, including Texas A&M and Oklahoma.

Hill earned numerous honors during the 2024 season. That included being named an All-American and to the All-SEC team that year. That, in its own right, came on the heels of being named a Freshman All-American and Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year in 2023. So, there were massive expectations on his shoulders. However, injuries would take their toll during his junior year, and he’d only play in 10 games for the Longhorns.

For his career, Hill played in 40 games over three seasons. During that time, Texas made it to the College Football Playoff twice. He finished his career with 249 total tackles, 31.5 tackles for a loss, and 17 sacks. Hill also snagged three interceptions and defended for passes to go along with right forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

The 91st NFL Draft is set to be held from April 23rd to the 25th in 2026. This year, the city of Pittsburgh is going to play host. There, Anthony Hill is hoping to hear his name called as early as the first round.
