KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – The Kansas City Chiefs are in unfamiliar territory following a 20-10 loss to the Houston Texans on Sunday night.
That unfamiliar territory, a sub-.500 record for the first time after Week 14 during the Andy Reid era, has them being criticized, insulted or poked fun at by people all over social media.
The teasing of the Chiefs included a 38-second video posted by the official X account of @TheDemocrats.
“Washed,” the video was captioned, with highlights of Harrison Butker’s missed 43-yard field goal attempt, Patrick Mahomes first interception, a critical drop from Kareem Hunt and Travis Kelce’s drop-turned-interception included in the lowlight reel.
The Chiefs clips were spliced between videos of President Donald Trump and posted Monday afternoon at 4:40 p.m.
By 8 p.m., the video had already generated more than 425,000 views.
Butker was on Trump’s Presidential Fitness Council earlier this year, appearing at his side during a ceremony at the White House in August. Chiefs special teams coordinator Dave Toub, however, was recently critical of Trump when discussing the NFL’s kickoff rules.
“Making fun of Travis Kelce when his fiance is your biggest celebrity endorsement is an… interesting strategy,” one X user responded.
KCTV reached out to several local politicians for comment and are awaiting responses.
