The Philadelphia Eagles lost their third straight game on Monday night, falling to the Los Angeles Chargers by a score of 22-19. Perhaps not so coincidentally, Eagles offensive tackle Lane Johnson was sidelined for his third consecutive contest with a Lisfranc injury in the affair.

Philadelphia’s lack of success with Johnson out of the lineup throughout the years has been well documented, so the fact that things have grinded to a halt without him should come as a complete shock.

The Eagles will be facing the Las Vegas Raiders this Sunday, and ESPN’s Adam Schefter has revealed a major update on Johnson heading into the matchup.

“Eagles hoping to soon get back their All-Pro OT Lane Johnson from his Lisfranc sprain in his right foot, and they need him. This season, the Eagles are 0-3 without Johnson,” Schefter wrote.

Schefter added that since Johnson’s rookie campaign in 2023, Philadelphia has gone just 15-27 when he is out of the lineup. The former first-round pick is a six-time Pro Bowler and has earned a pair of First-Team All-Pro selections.

That being said, Philly’s problems in 2025 run much deeper than Johnson’s absence.

It seems pretty clear that there is a significant disconnect between quarterback Jalen Hurts and the rest of the offense this season, and the defense has also been wildly inconsistent.

The Eagles got off to a 4-0 start this year but have gone just 4-5 since, and even during Philadelphia’s brief undefeated run to begin the campaign, you could tell that things just weren’t quite right.

Luckily, Philly is still in first place in the NFC East, but the Dallas Cowboys are still lurking at 6-6-1.

After facing the Raiders this week, the Eagles will head on the road for two games against the Washington Commanders and Buffalo Bills before returning home to host the Commanders in the regular-season finale.
