Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders made waves for his apparent fashion choices in Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans, but he’s setting the record straight.
A viral video showed Sanders appearing to wear thong underwear, but he revealed during a FaceTime call with his brother, Shilo, that it was actually tape to help mitigate the effects of a back injury.
“You forgot I have a back injury, right? So, I get my back taped,” Sanders said around the 6:24 mark. “But that is crazy that it did look like that, that’s funny though!”
Sanders threw for 364 yards, three touchdowns and an interception while adding a team-high 29 rushing yards and another score. Unfortunately, his big day wasn’t enough for a victory, as the Titans came away with a 31-29 win over the Browns.
Sanders will try to help the Browns (3-10) stop a two-game skid when they meet the Chicago Bears (9-4) on Sunday.
