FORMER STEELERS S JOINS LIONS

The Steelers are facing the Miami Dolphins this week, but after that, they’ll travel to play the Detroit Lions. That looks like one of the most challenging games remaining on their schedule. While the Lions are having a slight down year, their offense is still one of the league’s best. Unfortunately, their defense has been hit pretty hard by the injury bug. That’s led them to sign a former Steeler.

NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport stated on Twitter that the Lions have signed Damontae Kazee to their practice squad. Kazee was with the Steelers from 2022-2024. More recently, he was with the Cleveland Browns. However, he parted ways with them in the middle of this season. Now, he’s joined the Lions. We’ll see if he suits up when the Steelers go to Detroit.

RAVENS ADD OL

The Baltimore Ravens fought hard to get to the top of the AFC North after starting 1-5 this season. However, after losing the last two weeks, including to the Steelers, the Ravens once again find themselves without a playoff spot. The season isn’t over yet, but the Ravens’ postseason hopes are slipping away from them.

They also recently saw offensive lineman Ben Cleveland get suspended for three games for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy. As a result, they’ve signed offensive lineman Laken Tomlinson to their practice squad, while also releasing edge rusher Carl Lawson, according to The Athletic’s Jeff Zrebiec on Twitter. Tomlinson has been in the league since 2015 and provides the Ravens with a bit of insurance up front.

ROONEY SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD FINALISTS

The Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award has been given out every year since 2014. It goes to the player who demonstrates outstanding sportsmanship, with each team nominating one player. Pat Freiermuth was the Steelers’ representative this year, but unfortunately, he won’t be winning the award.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport shared the finalists for the award on Twitter. It features DeForest Buckner of the Indianapolis Colts, Harrison Phillips of the New York Jets, Zach Sieler of the Miami Dolphins, Kyle Van Noy of the Baltimore Ravens, Budda Baker of the Arizona Cardinals, Lavonte David of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Demario Davis of the New Orleans Saints, and Brian O’Neill of the Minnesota Vikings.
