CLEVELAND, Ohio — Browns center Ethan Pocic was placed on injured reserve for the season on Tuesday after undergoing surgery to repair his torn Achilles.

In addition, running back Jerome Ford was placed on IR for the final four games of the season after suffering a shoulder injury during Sunday’s 31-29 loss to the Titans.

Ford, who played 13 snaps, didn’t run the ball, but caught 2 of 3 targets for 10 yards. He also returned five kickoffs for 113 yards, including a long of 32. Ford had replaced Malachi Corley on kickoff returns after Corley fielded a kickoff at the Browns’ 5 and ran out of bounds during a critical point in last week’s 26-8 loss to the 49ers.

Ford, who had his pay cut in half to about $1.75 million this season, is in the final year of his contract, and it remains to be seen if he’ll be back. He appeared in all 13 games, rushing for 73 yards and catching 26 passes for 103 yards this season.

Pocic’s contract is also up after this season, and the Browns will likely have to make alternative plans at center as they rebuild their offensive line in 2026. Achilles recoveries usually take about nine months, which would put him back on the field sometime around September.

Pocic started the first 13 games at center and has started 57 games since joining the Browns as an undrafted free agent in 2022.

For the rest of this season, he’ll be replaced by 2024 sixth-round pick Luke Wypler, who’s started only one NFL game, as a rookie.

In addition, the team has signed center Darrian Dalcourt and defensive tackle Keith Cooper Jr. to the practice squad and released defensive end Ochaun Mathis and linebacker Mark Robinson from the practice squad.

Dalcourt (6-3, 320) is officially in his first NFL season out of Alabama. He was signed as an undrafted free agent by Baltimore in 2024 and has spent time on the Ravens’, Commanders’ and Panthers’ practice squads. He will wear No. 61.

Cooper (6-5, 280) is in his rookie season out of Houston. He was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Detroit Lions and spent time on their practice squad this season. He will wear No. 66.
